Information and Public Relation Enhancement:-
In terms of enhancing education information, BSWU
system is linked to SUPREME system. The academic information such as enrollment
information and grade result will be sent to students when each activity had
already done. For supporting university’s public relation, the information from
university’s publication relation system such as news and events, academic
calendar, etc will be link to B-SWU system. The information from these
e-services systems will be further dynamically sent to students, lecturers and staffs
day by day. In case of sending special news or events which happened out of
schedule, users can send that information manually to B-SWU system.
Furthermore, prospective students who registered at SWU admission website also
receive the relevant information that they need.
For keeping people privacy, the recipients of BSWU
system are the registered users only. After receiving message,
B-SWU system will prepare the message into a proper SMS. First of all, user has
to prepare the contact list in B-SWU phone book. They also create contact list
in files in either excel or text format and upload them to B-SWU system. Next,
phone books can be classified into different contact groups. After that, user
can be selected contact group and the quizzes Then, each selected quizzes has
be checked for message length no longer than 160 English characters or 70 Thai
characters. If the message length is over the limitation, the system allows
user to adjust the message or continue to send as it as is by splitting the
original message into multiple messages. After that, user can select the
sending time user select the sending time by choosing immediate sending option
or later sending option. Before sending, the system displays the SMS preview
page before sending. After sending the message, the system will report the SMS
delivering status to the user.
Conclusion:-
The move towards mobile technology is rapidly
approaching. This paper details the development of B-SWU, a bulk SMS system for
enhancing education communication which covers learning, education information
and public relation. By connecting to the university existing system, all
interest information is dynamically linked to B-SWU system for further
distribution to the registered users. With the inexpensive costs of SMS enabled
in all GSM mobiles, it can be useful and accessible to all users anywhere and
anytime. Moreover, bulk SMS system can be applied commercially to reach target
groups more efficiently and has been wildly used in CRM (Customer Relation
Management).
In order to
successfully use bulk SMS system, there are some important points of SMS we
have to be concerned about:
• In order to
make SMS work it is important to make sure that all information that we need to
inform the users are included in the message.
• Be aware that one message can contain only 160
characters. Try to pack it as tight as possible. If necessary, split it into
two or more messages. However, the more messages sent, the more cost paid.
• Create a
clear message. Currently, people like to use abbreviations to make messages
fit. Even though some abbreviations are accepted to be a standard, try not to
use them to often in order to avoid unclear abbreviations.
• Try not to send SPAM. Junk message or too many
messages will degrade the value of SMS.
Avoid sending message to unregistered users because
it breaches people’s privacy.
